The Queensland-based company yesterday said the well had reached a total depth of 2633m and wireline logs have indicated a zone of interest in the primary objective.
A DST is expected to be carried out today in the Clematis Sandstone, it said.
“The primary objective of the re-entry and deepening project is to test the conventional gas potential of the Triassic-aged Clematis Sandstone, which is yet to be intersected by drilling on the prominent Champagne Creek anticline,” Sunshine said.
The Champagne Creek structure is a dip-closed anticline with an estimated potential resource at the Clematis Sandstone level of up to 60 billion cubic feet of recoverable gas.
Operator Sunshine has a 100% interest in permit ATP 768P, while Beach Petroleum has the option to earn a 50% interest in the permit after the completion of Champagne Creek-2 deepening.
